| owner releases the copyright. Nissan will still sell you a 1990 manual - granted it's a photocopy of the whole damn thing but they def. retain their copyright. This is what Nissan Publications sends you now if you order a 90 or 91 manual (and they charge $$$ for it) 
I'm sure they are aware of the existance of the one on the UK site, if they granted permission I don't know - but it's there for reference and not profit so maybe they don't mind. Either way you can't download the whole thing - you have to use it off of that site.
